Procedures for enetering the classroom upon arrival in the morning

Today we will learn what needs to be done upon arriving to the classroom in the morning.

This is important, because there are several things that need to be addressed to ensure your safety and to make sure that everything runs smoothly for the day.

Please remain lined up in a single file line, quietly sitting against the wall in front of the classroom.  When the bell rings, stand up, collect all of your belongings, and after I open the classroom door, begin to enter the classroom.  While entering the classroom, before going to your seat, place your name in the appropriate column for hot lunch or sack lunch.  Please place your personal items where they belong, leaving your homework folder out and have a seat.  After everyone has been seated, please pass your homework folders up to the front of the row where I will collect them.

Now let’s try it one row at a time.

Great job!

So just to review, what is the first thing you do when you get here in the morning? When do you enter the classroom?  What do you do on your way to your seat?  What do we do with our homework folders?

Procedure for dismissal

Now we will cover what the procedures for leaving for the day will be.

This is important to ensure that each and every one of you get home safely and with all the items you need for the evening.  When I say to do so each day, you will quietly stand up, push in your chairs, and gather all of your items together.  When you have all the items you need for the evening, you will stand in a single file line with the bus riders in front, walkers in the middle, and car riders at the end.  There is no need to push, run, or fight over a spot in line; we will all get out of here at the same time.  If you are unclear as to your mode of transportation for the day, please let me know.

Now let us pretend it is time to go home, you do not actually need to gather your items, just tidy them on your desk as if you were packing up.  Remember our line and hallway procedures from earlier and incorporate them into this procedure as well.

Very good! Now everyone please return to your seat.

When are you going to begin getting ready to leave?  What is the first thing you should do?  Then what do we do?  And how do we line up?
